please give me some advice!!!

by Mara
(Arad, Romania)

hello, i'm a 24 years old girl from romania, so my english isn't very good. i had regular cicles from 14 to 23 years of age. from around 20 i began taking contraceptive medicine (YAZ) but i stoped taking it after my capilares started showing under my skin. being a medical studen i decided in may this year to do some tests and my progesterone levels were 0,66 in day 7 of my cicle, 0,29 in day 14, and 0,93 in day 21. with both estradiol and lh levels low (only fsh is in the normal range). i went to the doctor and he didn't seem to know what is wrong. i went and tested my tyroid and all camed back normal. i had an ultrasound and everything looks normal. i mention i'm not overweight, i exercise regulary and have a healthy diet. i would realy apreciate some sugestions!

Hi Mara Your English is very good! The only test of significance is the one from day 21, the others are meaningless as progesterone should be low in the follicular phase. But your day 21 is far too low, it ranges from 5-20ng/ml during the luteal phase. All drug based Contraceptives have the potential to harm. They slow down or stop ovarian function, and of course stop ovulation. It's only when this occurs will progesterone be secreted. I have found when stopping the pill that major problems can occur. The ovaries do start up again, but it can be many months before ovulation, and therefore progesterone production begins. If testosterone or oestrogen production is too high, this itself will prevent ovulation. I would suggest you try 200mg/day progesterone. I'm not sure if you still bleed or if you have a cycle at all, but if you don't then please use the progesterone daily, through any bleeding, for about 2-3 months. This will ensure progesterone becomes the dominant hormone and suppresses the other two. Then when you feel stable, you can begin to follow your cycle again. There's more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. Please let me know how you get on. Take care Wray
