I don't really know where to start! The past year has been a very hard one physically for me. I have all kinds of weird symptoms, panic attacks, insomnia, chest pains, anemia, pleurisy, irregular periods and all kinds of mood swings mostly anger and tears :( December the 13th I started my period and it seemed different. Then the next 10 days were unbelievably heavy with huge clots and just luring every time I would move! It was so scary I thought I was gonna bleed to death!
I went to my gyno who wanted me to take Medroprogesterone , it' slowed to changing pad/tampon only twice or so a day so I didn't start the meds since I do terrible with meds! I have had to use some light protection every day as I have bled some everyday since the 13th except 2 days.
I have had very heavy periods at least 2-3 days out if each month for the past 5 years or so but not for 10 days ever!

I have done all manner of searches and researches online trying to find help. I ordered Emerita Pro-Gest after much research before I found this site of course and just recieved it today.

Is the pro-Gest effective ? Is it a good one to use until I can order and receive the one recommended on this site?

I took the questionaire on this site and my score was 66 I thought that was a definite!

I run a business of 14 years and my daughter and her husband and 3 children 2-3-6 years old, have been living with my husband and I for over 3 years and I am a pastors wife sp stress is a big part of my life ..... So much worse lately!!!
In need of help!!!!
There is much more to the story but I tried to condense it :)
I am concerned about how much to use.
Any help would be appreciated.
RJ I especially ask to talk to you because I read your comments on some of the topics and thought maybe you had faced some of the same things :)

Hi Debbie

Delighted to hear that you found the website helpful. I have read your posts to RJ and I have in fact posted something to her about you too.

The only way I can assist in connecting you both if for you to contact me via my own website - see here. Once I have your email addresses I will let you both know them. We do not post email addresses on the website as it encourages spam.

If I can assist you with anything, please let me know. The progesterone cream that you are using does not contain the correct amount of progesterone concentration - see here. You will need to double up. RJ will explain further.

Also do you know what your vitamin D level is as a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone, it is connected to every single cell in our bodies making it vital.

Take care.

Hi Debbie,
Well, I will say you sound almost like me two years ago. I'm guessing you're probably my age also...I don't think I saw your age, but with the age of your grandchildren I'm assuming you are. I'll be 48 in two weeks. My periods were same time each month, like clock work....could narrow it down to the time of day. Usually cycles were a good five to seven days with two or three days of heavy and some clotting in those days. But within the last five years the flow would go a day or so longer and the doctor said to me welcome to menopause and I was like what do you mean and she said this is part of the change. Well, we moved to the country, my parents came with us, but my older children stayed behind. It was devastating for me. We had always lived together and were not meant to be apart. So my stress level was off the scale....there was a lot more to my stress than the move and being lost without half my family, but that was enough. Then I lost one of my dogs in the summer 2 1/2 years ago...I just knew he was going to live...had done everything to make him come around...but God had other plans. Then six months to the day my second dog died of bone cancer and I was just besides myself....the move, my family gone, my parents unhappy with the move, the uncertainty if we'd make it closing our business, my dogs gone....that next month, January to be exact I began to bleed and bled until March when I finally went to the doctor. My flow was heavy, clots the size of golf balls or larger most times. I would have what I called Niagara Falls, where if I was sitting down and had to get up I would press the pad I was wearing to the back of my hindend because I knew the blood and clots were going to gush all over the place. There was one day it happened to me while I was working outside and the clot came out and fell onto the ground. My pads were Kotex overnights. During the day I had one go to the front and then I'd take two and put them side-by-side and put them to the back. LOL but at night I had two side-by-side to the front and three going to the back. It was a mess and all of this just overnight it seemed...like no forewarning that it was coming...just bam and it was here. Then the tiredness...ugh. With all the blood loss I knew I was tired from that. That doctor I went and saw in March, well, she didn't see me, her nurse practitioner did. I told her everything that was going on in my life, in my body and I was told do an ultrasound, sounds like cancer. Big scare...I mean huge scare....even scared my husband when I walked out because he said I was so white. My paps have always been normal as have my cycles and now I don't have health insurance to cover all this. I was sick and the woman terrified me. So, I did research and found Wray's site. Cont.--

Cont.-- Didn't try Natpro first because of the delay, so I went out and bought...oh three or four creams that I could buy in the health food store. Emerita was one, Now and Oasis...there was one more I believe it was from Solgar. Heavy, heavy creams and boy if you started to sweat at all, in the least bit, you felt so slimy and like your skin was suffocating....it was like I had cling wrap all over my skin...it was awful. Then Natpro finally came and it took a long while before I saw results. Yes, in the beginning I used maybe 500 at the most and I didn't do that often...I was scared. But there were in fact other women using high, high amounts.

Wray, at one point, said she just didn't know what else to recommend for me. I didn't give up. And I'm proof now that it works. But you have to go high, otherwise you're just dilly-dallying around. I just ended my cycle and this is what I did. Lucky me I started on Christmas, so I actually decreased my dosage to 400 a day, light flow the first day and heavy for three days...not Niagara Falls, but what I would call a normal heavy flow with a cycle...like I had when I was young...then I had light flow for about five days and it was time to stop it so I increased the dosage to 1,000 mg a day and it stopped completely about 5 days later. So, I decreased the dosage back down to 400 a day and yesterday I had a tinge of blood with mucous...ha, maybe I'm ovulating this month...and I upped the dosage back to 1,000 a day and it has stopped.

Cont.--I know Wray says not go down quickly that it will upset the system and I wouldn't do it if I wasn't trying to save money. I feel good today...the brain is clear. I never have cramps anymore and I suffered with that and nausea forever. In fact, yesterday my 16 year old said mom I can't think my head is in a fog, so I put 40 mg on him and within an hour he said it was gone. My husband gets it every night, about 100 mg, helps him sleep and hopefully it will ward off prostate issues or as we are finding these days breast cancer. I will admit there are times I worry about taking so much, but my mom has had a horrible road with her health and she has always had cycle issues....I don't want to go down that road and she never took progesterone or supplements....only now, that she's ill is she realizing the pills the doctors are giving aren't working and she is taking supplements. Her D level was 17 a few months back...got it up to 48 and the doctors told her, you're good now and I told her no you're not, with your cancer and RA you need to be at 100. I have a hard time with doctors. Ironic, that all of us women can have the same or similar problems and the medical fields says cancer. We all don't have cancer, yet we all have the same problems. There is a link and Wray is showing women what that link is and you do have what I started out with. Geeze, I can think back ten years ago and remember some of the things I did and said, I asked the Lord to forgive me and then thank Him for finding Wray and progesterone. My hospital visit I had two years ago came from a panic attack...I knew I was having a heart attack...doctors gave me morphine in an iv, told me I was fine and sent me home. I started my period the next day. I made two more trips to the doctor with a racing heart, telling him something was wrong and was told take these high blood pressure pills and each visit, by-golly, if I didn't start my period either the same day as I saw him or the next. I knew it was cycle and/or hormone related. Try it Debbie, you are not going to feel any worse than you already do. But be sure you start out high...it's not going to work any other way because you have years of built of estrogen in you and it is going to get really excited when you add the progesterone....weather through it and you will get to the other side of it. Two years it has taken me Debbie and I still have bad months. I also take tons of supplements. I will admit, I do not take as much NAC as Wray says to take...gives me diarrhea.

Cont.--So, I know you may think my 15 days of bleed is bad, but compared to what I had been doing it is great. We're still going to bleed, as Wray said, we cannot stop that, but I sure can make it lighter and not scared to go out in public because of a gush or have to change my bedding every morning. Once you get on that high dosage you'll be able to handle the stress better, progesterone calms you along with the GABA, and then the stress won't play such a big factor in your cycle anymore. The D3 Wray talks about throughout the site...oh be sure to do that Debbie, it has done miracles for me, but be sure to take the K2, Magnesium, Zinc and Boron with it or it's not metabolized correctly. It's a long road. The stresses of life are not going to go away. We have people who depend on us and we are expected to continue on that road that everyone has come to rely on and our brains keep trying to tell us we have to keep going, but our bodies tell us something completely different, in the form of lots of blood and clots. Our uterus' are our bodies stress indicators...see the Lord knew exactly what he was doing when He gave them to us lol...not only to bring the miracle of life to this earth, but to also say...whoa Nelly, it's time to slow down and take a look at what we're doing wrong because something is really off whack. Remember that our Lord works miracles....how did you find this site? :) That's how I looked/look at it. God Bless! RJ

I did try the emerita and I woke I the night with a racing heart and feeling like I was dying:( it scared me to death.
I have been bleeding light for about 3 weeks and 2 weeks before that was horrendously heavy and then in the 12th it stared up again not too heavy like a normal period so I am gonna wait about 5 days and see if it stops .... Hoping it will!!! If the progesterone made me feel like that the first day could it be the brand? Will the Natpro affect me different? I am almost afraid to try it!
I so appreciate your story it does sound like me and I am a little older than you 49 I have felt like I am falling apart and the stress is so bad!! I will look forward to hearing from you again soon!

Hi Debbie!
How much of that Emerita did you use? The tube contains 1800mg. I would have used 1/4 of the tube. I have had that racing a lot before I got on the progesterone. It is one of the signs I look for when it's time to increase the cream. When you had that racing you should of got up and put more on...on the chest, over the breasts. It takes mine about five minutes and the racing quits. It's scary...sent me to the hospital. Have you ever had that before? What I'm thinking is if you have, which I think you said you did, the racing heart is going to be there whether you take the cream or not, so again, that cream isn't going to hurt. Your estrogen is high, your stress is high, you're in peri-menopause, being a business owner, we eat quick, unhealthy foods....all raising the stress and estrogen. Does the hair on your chin and upper lip get heavier at certain times? Another indicator for me. When that hair starts growing I know the testosterone is pumping through my veins, which tells me again, the estrogen is high. The only solution is the high progesterone. It is all a total package. The supplements along with the progesterone. I know you are reluctant...I was too. Today I am still spotting...so started Christmas and flowed light to heavy for 13 days, no flow or spotting for oh six days, started to spot three days ago and it is still spotting. And it doesn't mess the underwear up it just comes off on the toilet paper...I don't even wear a pad. Then that spotting stops most of the afternoon and then starts back up around eight at night. It's just part of the process. Annoying...oh you bet...and as hard as I've tried and as much cream as I've used...sometimes 1500 mg back some time ago, I could and cannot to this day stop the blood from flowing all I can do is lighten it. Some months I get lucky...those are the ones I've ovulated...I'll go three weeks without flowing or spotting...it's great...but those months are so few and far between. Your stress is there and is being exacerbated by the peri-menopause. Take the high cream Debbie and the stress will become manageable. I live this cycle every day. Cont.-

Cont.- Another indicator I need to increase the cream is crying at dumb things, weeping at the drop of the hat. My fits of rage are gone...I don't have them anymore and my family thanks the Lord. But when that weepiness comes into play, I up the cream. You will eventually learn to read your body and know when you need it. Right now you're scared, like I was. Do I have cancer or some other disease. I don't and you have the same symptoms I have had and like so many other women on this site....again, we all do not have cancer. Debbie I was a nut work ten - twelve years ago...lol....now I know why people looked at me like I was a crazy woman in a straight jacket with hair looking like the heat mizer off The Year Without a Santa Claus lol. Laugh Debbie, it will all level out. But you're gonna have to take it in high dosages and start adding the supplements or you will continue on like this. Tell me how much of that cream you took and lets go from there. If you took too little the estrogen is going nuts inside you. These results do not come quickly...you live and learn from it. Try this amount and see how you feel, then try another amount and see how you feel. You are your own guinea pig. Start taking taurine. I take 1,000 to 2,000 a day and GABA too, they both relax you and will help with that racing too. I get powdered from PureBulk.com and I just mix it in water. The other thing that works for a fact is Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. I take 1 tbsp of it, 1/8 tsp of baking soda, stevia, half a squeezed lemon and add water and ice. Helps so many other things in our bodies too. God Bless! RJ

Hi Debbie

I can't explain any better than what RJ has, she has walked that long dark road too but it does get better.

It sounds to me as though you are in Peri-Menopause which is a difficult time for most women but by using the correct amount of progesterone cream, it helps get us past this and makes our transition into Menopause easier. As RJ mentioned vitamin D is vital, so please get your level up high otherwise it can be a long road for you.

Emerita (ProGest) does not contain the correct amount of progesterone concentration, it only has 15mg, whereas Natpro has 33.33mg. Nothing LESS than 100mg/3ml per day is recommended and with peri-menopause more is usually needed until one feels stable enough to reduce. So it really does not surprise me that your heart was racing. Please read Estrogen Dominance.

The thing to remember is that progesterone is not an overnight fix, depending on how severe symptoms are, it can take anything from 2 to 6 months before positive signs are felt, possibly longer. If progesterone is not used correctly it will not work, it is vital to use the correct amount of progesterone cream and to get your vitamin D level up high.

I am sure that once you read the pages I suggest it will explain things to you. Remember that I can put you in touch with RJ privately if you wish, but you are most welcome to discuss your symptoms here on Wray's forum.

Take care.
