I am 41 and have 1 ovary. I have periods day 28-31. I have problems with insomnia, tender and enlarged breasts before a period. I am moody, anxious, cold hands and feet, thinning hair, etc. I am on Nature-throid as well for hypothyroidism. I tried this month 12.5mg over the counter progesterone cream, but symptoms did not go away. As a matter of fact, my insomnia is worse. My period did not come by day 31, so I asked my doctor about it and he said to take the cream for 3 weeks straight and then take off 1 week. I stopped taking it Monday and got my period Wednesday morning. I want to start natpro (you are currently out of stock), but when during my cycle should I start? I have read on your website to start day 14 or should I do 3 weeks straight? Do not want any more children, so does it matter if I ovulate? Please help because not sure what to do. Thank you!

Joanna - Peri Menopause
by: Joy

Hi Joanna

Did your doctor not advise you that you are in Peri-Menopause? It can be a difficult time for some woman however, progesterone therapy will certainly help you to prepare for Menopause. Please rub some progesterone on your tender breasts, progesterone is an excellent anti-inflammatory.

Unfortunately you have not been advised on how to use progesterone correctly. I really am not surprised that your insomnia worsened, 12.5mg is no where near enough. Progesterone needs to be used every day with no breaks at all when in Peri-Menopause and Menopause. It is so important to use the correct amount of progesterone too. The amount suggested is incorrect, it should be nothing less than 100mg per day, most woman in Peri-Menopause need to use 200mg, possibly more. It is most important to use a cream that has the correct progesterone concentration. If progesterone is not used correctly it will not work.

Do you know what your Vitamin D3 level is as a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone and is connected to every single function cell in our bodies?

Please read the following pages on the website:

Peri-Menopause

Vitamin D3

I hope this helps.

progesterone and my cycle
by: joanna

I have noticed that if I am on progesterone, my period does not come as long as I am taking it. Should I then use it day 14-28 of my cycle? Just want to do what's best. Thank you very much!

vitamin D

Meant to say that I take Vitamin D3 liquid 4000 IU daily. I know how important it is overall.
