IVF and heavy bleeding

by Jean
(IL)

I had IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) about 3 years ago and now I have very heavy periods that can last from 7 to 28 days with lots of quarter sized clots.

It has disrupted my life and physical activities. I will start progesterone therapy this month per the recommendation from my doctor.

IVF and heavy bleeding

Hi Jean. I know progesterone will help, as it's helped other women with heavy continual bleeding. But I have found the dose has to be high to help, sometimes up to 600mg/day. I do hope he's giving you enough. If you find it's not helping this will be the reason, so ask him to increase the amount. Please don't take oral progesterone, most of it gets destroyed in the gut and liver, please see these papers...
