Is it ever too late to start?

by Sonja
(Canada)

Been in menopause for a few years and have not taken anything.

Started to have a lot of stiffness and muscle weakness. Not sleeping too well and some anxiety. Have never been troubled with hot flashes. Is it too late to start on progesterone?

Thanks.

Is it ever too late to start?

Hi Sonja It's never too late to start it. As you are in Menopause please read through this page we have. It explains how to use progesterone should you decide to. Please also read this page we have on Oestrogen Dominance too. Once we stop ovulating at menopause we no longer make any ovarian progesterone. But we continue making oestrogen in our fat cells, however many or few we have. Plus the body is now overwhelmed by excess oestrogen, as it's rising the world over. Over 100 oestrogen mimics have been discovered, nothing escapes it. Please see this excellent web site Our Stolen Future for more info. Oestrogen is an excitatory, inflammatory hormone, progesterone is calming plus a potent anti-inflammatory. If you should consider using it, please make sure you use sufficient. I recommend 100-200mg/day, dependant on symptoms. Progesterone does help anxiety and sleep, but there are nutrients which help too. We have a list of them on our Anxiety page. Progesterone also benefits ageing, see here, here, here and here. Take care Wray
