I have Factor 5 Leiden

by Riki
(North Saanich, BC, Canada)

I have just started taking Natpro and so far I have not noticed any changes eg. hot flashes reduced or feelings of edgyness or anxiety reduced or insomnia reduced, but since it says on the website that symptoms can get worse during the first 3 months, I will persevere.

What I am most concerned about is if the progesterone will increase my ability to clot because I have Factor 5 Leiden and already have a propensity to clot more than normal.

I have Factor 5 Leiden

Hi Riki. It does take time to settle in, so I'm glad you're persevering. You could try increasing the dose to 200mg/day or 6ml of cream per day, this can speed up the relief. There is no evidence that progesterone increases clotting, the reverse in fact. It also protects against lipid peroxidation and atherosclerosis. It inhibits thrombin, which not only coagulates blood, but is a potent vasoconstrictor. Progesterone is a vasodilator. Please see this paper.
