I am on bioidentical hormones

I am 55 years old and had a hysterectomy when I was 32. My doctor put me on Premeron and I had so many problems with it, about 6 years ago I went on bioidentical hormones C-E2 0.55/E3 2.2/TE 0.5 and it helped some.

I was wondering if progesterone will help me with water retention, vaginal dryness, no intrest in sex, headaches, hair loss, excess hair on upperlip. If I need to add progesterone to my therapy how much should I start with?

Progesterone is a youth hormone
by: Jeannie

It is present in both men and women - in fact, the baseline levels are the same for both sexes, although for women who are menstruating the levels rise during the luteal phase of the cycle - and are produced by both sexes in the corpus luteum as well as in the ovaries for women.

At about the age of 45, BOTH sexes experience a rapid drop in progesterone production. In both sexes, progesterone can be converted to testosterone and that decline contributes to a lessening of sex drive as well as other issues, including sluggish thyroid function which can cause many of the symptoms you describe. Here is a good basic article about the decline in some beneficial hormones as we age...

I think if we want to live long, healthy, vital lives we have to look at the reasons we lose that youthful vitality and what we can do to supplement our lives.

Bioidentical hormones
by: Olivia

I have recently started using Bioidentical Hormones and so far I'm feeling great! I found a great local doctor in Miami who dedicated his practice to BHRT. Dr. Lee is not only there to address my questions and concerns; he has also made me feel like me again. I would recommend him to anyone!
