I am not in Menopause

by Rebecca Marquez
(Billings MT)

I have thinning of the uterus. The doctor at first thought maybe I had cancer cuz of that. But after having a blood test to see if I was in menopause I have not entered it yet. And I do not have cancer. He is wanting to put me on progesterone but after reading about it I am terrified.

I had not had a menstrual cycle for over a year and all of a sudden I got one in May. That is when I saw the doctor. He told me I was not menopausal and suggested that I go on progesterone to get my cycle going again. What would happen if I decided not to go on it and just not have my menstrual cycle? What are the benefits of going on progesterone? Please help!!!

Hi Rebecca I'm not sure why you're terrified of using progesterone, unless you mean the synthetic progestins? These should be avoided, please see our page on Contraceptives. Progesterone has so many benefits space doesn't allow me to give them all to you. I suggest instead you look around our site and in particular read what other women have said. Please see this page on FAQ's. It gives links to 11 pages, plus contributions women have made. If you feel confident to use it, please read the page on How to use progesterone cream. Plus the Oestrogen Dominance page. Judging by your symptoms you might like to read the page we have on Peri-menopause. Take care Wray
