HYPERPLASIA

by Jane
(Sedona, Az)

Hi, I am a 61 year old feamle with hyperplasia. My uterine linning measures 9 millimeters. I am told it should be 4 millimeters. I have been on bio-identical hormones for the past 6 years. The past 1 year, I have not been well monitored. I have stopped my prescription of bio-identicals and am using progesterone cream in an attempt to thin my uterine linning. As I understand it, I must use approximately 400 mg daily to accomplish this. My questions is: HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE ? Please advise.

Hi Jane

Progesterone therapy is not an overnight fix, it can take anything from 2-6 months, possibly longer, depending on how severe symptoms are, before positive signs are felts. Hyperplasia is a cause of excess estrogen and progesterone will help you, but please use a cream that has the correct progesterone concentration. Please read these pages - Estrogen Dominance, How to use Progesterone Cream and Menopause.

A Vitamin D deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone, please consider having a test done.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the references. In my attempt to thin my utereine linning, will I at some point have a period discharge of this linning or is it just absorbed back in to the body?

Hi Jane

Normally the lining will come away, you could land up with a heavy period though as the lining comes away.
