High level of progesterone

by Robin
(USA)

I am a 53 year old female. Just got results of a saliva test. My progesterone was over 2000, cortisol low. I have adrenal fatigue, high testosterone (27), estrogen normal and estriol low (8). The tech suggested a topical being the cause of my elevated progesterone. Can anyone out there help me out?

I am also 53 and have been on topical progesterone cream for 5 months. My saliva test showed a reading of 10,000 which apparently is not unusual for a saliva test. I cut back to about 140 mg per day from 300 per day and found a good balance after using for a while. The main reaction has been a decline in my estrogen which was my aim for using progesterone in the first place. I no longer have symptoms of estrogen dominance which decreases my chances of cancer which I am very happy about. Hope I have helped in some way.

That's a high level of 2000, and I'm not taking anything? so what causes this?

Hi Robin. I've not heard of a level as high as this, without supplementing. I would ask for another test to be done by another lab. ZRT are very good. Take care, Wray
