Help Needed :)

by Janine Bonadio
(Newtown,CT Fairfield County)

Dear Wray,

I am 50 years old, have been getting a light period every seven months for the past two years. Hormonal blood results are as followed:

LH 29.7 MLU/ML
Estradiol 52PG/ML
Progesterone 0.6 NG/ML
Follicle Stimulating 39.7 MLU/ML

Vit D level 45

I am on 20 mg of Natural Radiance Progesterone Cream. Should I also be taking an estrogen cream for equal ratio?

I am getting different opinions and need your advise.

Thank You.

Menopause

Dear Janine~
You and I are close to the same age. I'm 49 and am perimenopausal as well.
You are definitely using far too little. So, the best thing to do is to eductate yourself. Please read the articles to the left. They are chock full of info. Also another wonderful source is a book written by a MD, Dr Michael Platt who is an expert in bioidentical hormone therapy. The title is "The Miracle of Bioidentical Hormones" you can order on Amazon. I am CONSTANTLY referring back to it. I believe you will too.
Also follow the protocol recommended on this site. Click on the bolded "Progesterone therapy" on the left. PLEASE read that page. It will educate and teach you what is recommended to acheive hormonal balance for our particular phase of reproductive life. It is different for someone still cycling verses someone like us in peri menopause.
Also, you are still too low in Vit D. 45 may be acceptable to conventional drs, but is far too low...your level needs to be more around 80. D is a PREhormone and helps all our hormones function better.
I personally use between 200 and 300mg Progesterone daily even through bleed. Because I still have a cycle I use 200 from day 1 first day of period) thru 8 and then 250 to day 14 and then 300 till i get period again whenever that is... This is what wroks for me.. You may not need as much or you may need more.
All will be well, Janine... Hang in there and read read read:):):)
Especially, the article on Progesterone Therapy and Dr Michael Platt's book above.

Good luck and keep us posted. Remember, it will take some months to finally achieve hormonal balance because perimenopause is quite the rollercoaster ride😁
Blessings! Diane

Help Needed :)
by: Joy

Hi Janine

Please read the PERI-MENOPAUSE and MENOPAUSE pages on this website but doing a Google search in the search bar. Usually a missed period after 12 months puts one in menopause, you are not quite there yet. Your progesterone:estrogen(E2) ratio is extremely low at 12:1, it should be 600:1, please read HORMONE TESTING. Your VITAMIN D3 level is also very low, the HORMONE TESTING page will explain what levels should be.

You really are wasting your time using that amount of progesterone, it is just enough to disrupt your estrogen receptors not what you need! Nothing less that 100-200mg per day is needed, more maybe needed if symptoms are severe. Please make sure that you use a cream containing the correct progesterone concentration, otherwise you will need to adjust amount used accordingly.

There are many conflicting stories and MISCONCEPTIONS about progesterone, most by misguided people, for this reason please read the HOW TO USE PROGESTERONE CREAM page, if not used correctly, it will not work. No woman needs to take extra estrogen as explained on the ESTROGEN DOMINANCE page. There are well over 100 estrogen mimics in our ENVIRONMENT as it is, why take more?

Hope this helps.
