Estrogen and Progesterone combined in a cream to be used vaginally

by Autumn
(New York)

I'm 5 years post menopause. I was on bio identical progesterone and estrogen for about 3 years due to insomnia, weight gain, fatigue. (I had a blood test and it showed my hormones were extremely low). A few months ago I decided to give my body a break and go off the hormones. Bad idea. I became depressed, was tired all the time started having bladder issues and had trouble sleeping. I went back on the hormones; 1 gram of biest/progesterone 4 clicks in the morning and 4 clicks at night on the wrists. Previously, I was on the 50mg troche and a separate estrogen cream but when my doctor called in the new prescription she combined the two hormones. Due to the fact that I am having some bladder issues, my doctor suggested I apply the cream vaginally. I've seen a lot of posts on your site regarding putting the estrogen or progesterone in and around the vaginal area but I have not seen anything about putting both in that area. Should I apply this cream vaginally? Thank you.

Estrogen and Progesterone combined in a cream to be used vaginally

Hi Autumn

Did you go off the hormones cold turkey? It should be done gradually. I don't believe any woman needs to take extra estrogen, there are over 100 estrogen mimics in our environment as it is, see Our Stolen Future. More estrogen will also create terrible Estrogen Dominance symptoms, not what any woman needs. The troche is not the best delivery method as so much gets destroyed by the gut and liver. Progesterone is excellent when inserted in the vagina, but do take care of the ingredients as many creams could cause irritation and I personally am rather fussy when inserting things in my vagina!

Please read How to use Progesterone Cream. Do you know what your Vitamin D level is? A deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone as it is connected to every single cell in our bodies and their formation.

Hope this helps.

I did not stop the hormones cold turkey. Was gradually weaned off them. I'm on a very low dose of estrogen but I agree I think I should just take the progesterone. Next time I see my dr. I will have her prescribe just the progesterone.
