Biote pellets & Is it safe to take progesterone everyday?

I am 44yrs old, have been dealing with symptoms of hormone imbalance for about 7yrs (so I was told by many Dr's).

I have really bad mood swings, irregular heavy periods, low libido, migraines, weight gain that just doesn't drop no matter how healthy I eat or how much I exercise, plus anxiety, depression, brain fog and fatigue, but then about a month ago an AD popped up on FB about biote pellets. I went to the website, found a Provider had them put in and its been a little over a month now.

I am feeling better a lot of my symptoms have gone away, the brain fog and fatigue was the worst and that's all gone. Im just very confused about the progesterone, when I got the pellets, estrogen and testosterone, my provider never mentioned progesterone and when I went to see my family Dr. she asked if I was taking progesterone but never said anything else, so I went back to the OBGYN that placed the pellets and asked and she forgot to give it to me because she said she did but didn't, so she prescribed me 200mg of progesterone for everyday at bed time but feeling really scared to take them.

I have read so many things about it and am very confused, is it safe to take everyday?

progesterone everyday

Hi Eunice,
I get bio identical pellets as well. The rule of thumb is, if you're getting estrogen, you need to take progesterone to prevent uterine cancer (those without their uterus do not need to take progesterone). You can however take progesterone without estrogen. My doctor first started me on 200 mg of prometrium days 1-12 of the month. I later switched to 100mg every night. I did that for many years. I hope that helps!

Hi Eunice

Did your doctor not inform you that you are in PERI-MENOPAUSE? It starts are around 35 when progesterone levels start to drop. Your adverse symptoms clearly indicate Estrogen Dominance. I take it that the Provider informed you of the side effects? No woman needs to take extra estrogen and testosterone. There are well over 100 estrogen mimics in our environment as it is, why would any woman want to take extra and why would any doctor want to prescribe it? Testosterone comes with health warnings too, the sides effects are simply not worth it.

Please read the long thread about Pellets below. My advice is to have them removed and use a good natural progesterone cream such as Natpro only. But to answer you question, yes progesterone can be used at the same time but you are going to have to use HUGE amounts to counter act. Progesterone needs to be the dominant hormone at all times. Taking and using estrogen will make this task very difficult.

In order to get the full benefit of progesterone it is important that Vitamin D3 levels are optimal. Co-factors are needed.
