Are progesterone pessaries safe to use while breastfeeding?

by Sally

Hi all, I am after some advice and to hear of others experiences.

I am 42 years old and currently breastfeeding my 11.5 month old daughter 3-4 times a day. She was conceived while doing a tracking cycle at a fertility clinic- using ovidrel to trigger ovulation and progesterone support from 3 days post ovulation to around 13 weeks gestation. My cycle returned within 3 months of my daughters birth, despite exclusively breastfeeding her. We have been trying to conceive for a few months, and have sadly had two chemical pregnancies in that time.

My questions is - Has anyone used an ovidrel trigger or progesterone pessaries while breastfeeding? I have received very mixed views on the safety of using these drugs. I was originally told they would be fine ( and used them for a couple of cycles) but have subsequently received conflicting advice. I obviously don't want to do anything which may harm my daughter, but would prefer not to wean her (and she is very resistant to that idea too!)

Thanks in advance.
