After two miscariages both at 4 months gestation

by Nichole Brown
(Arlington va)

First of all I have a 13 year old boy. I had him at 20 years old. I decided to have a another child at 31 years old and that ended up in a miscarriage at 4 months. I then tried 1 year later and went into pre-mature labor at 5 months.

The first doc told me when I decided to have another to get surcluage. I explanied that to the new doc with the second pregnancy and she told me this is a normal pregnancy no need for stitching of your cervix. So I'm very hurt and dissapointed. I am now two days late and very nervous.

Hi Nichole. It's difficult to say what could have gone wrong, but it could be your progesterone level dropped, hence the miscarriages. Did you have any stress at the time they occurred, as stress drops progesterone levels sharply?

If it was progesterone dropping no stitch would have kept the foetus in place. We do have a web page on pregnancy, please have a look at it, it might provide some answers for you.

Take care, Wray
