Adult Acne - Bio-Identical Progesterone Cream ...

I am 38 and have struggled with acne since the age of 16. I had the Cystic type of acne, which was very unsightly and terribly painful. I have been going to the dermatologist since the age of 17 and have tried it all; spot treatments such as creams/gels/lotions, antibiotics, even the awful med Accutane. The scarring I have because of enduring so many years as an acne sufferer is quite unfortunate and sad, the damage is beyond repair. I have recently done some investigating on the web after a microdermabrasion appointment I had at a local spa. My esthetician suggested I consult with naturopath for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, as a few of her other clients had similar issues and symptoms as me (adult acne and thinning hair). I did some research and was fortunate to locate an APRN in my area who deals with and treats these conditions! She also takes insurance, so I did not have to pay a ton of money out of pocket. I met with her and she prescribed me with natural bio-identical progesterone cream which is made at a special compounding pharmacy. It took a good, full year to see the results, but my face is starting to look beautiful and has been acne free for many, many weeks now, I am so happy to report! I am on 40 mg twice a day & smooth the cream between my 2 wrists. At the star (1st day) of my period, the does goes down to once per day for 14 days. I have seen such an improvement and am beyond ecstatic over these tremendous results. I also just recently visited with a new endocrinologist, as I have an issue with my thyroid .. there has been a 4.4cm nodule on the right lobe of my thyroid that has been detected, which has been causing additional unwanted symptoms, such as thinning hair, dry coarse hair & skin. To treat the thinning hair symptom, I have recently (within the last 2 weeks) been put on 100 mg of Spironolactone per day. I understand that I will have to wait 3+ months to start seeing the benefits/results, but I am patient and hopeful about getting my thinning hair under control. Overall, I have seen such a big, positive change in my complexion since starting the natural bio-identical progesterone cream! If a new pimple arrives during PMS, it is very small....nothing near what they use to be; large & painful. Thank goodness!! I hope this helps anyone else who might currently be struggling with thinning hair, adult acne and/or thyroid issues. Best of luck!
