I have had two miscarriages, one after the other and both of them around week eight. Why is this happening?

Hi Amelia. It sounds very much like a lack of progesterone, 8 weeks is a critical point in foetal life. Ovarian production is now very low, if insufficient progesterone is being made by the placenta at this stage, miscarriages can occur.

To prevent this from happening next time, you should use progesterone (a cream is equally as effective for this as suppositories or injections) from before conception, to at least the 4 month stage.

Please see our web page on conception and pregnancy here.

Take care, Wray
